OUR FOUNDER, DR. SHERIF HAKKY

Dr Hakky is a specialist Laparoscopic (key hole) and Bariatric (weight loss) surgeon who currently works as a Consultant Surgeon in London at the prestigious Charing Cross and St Marys Hospital of Imperial College London . He also runs a periodical clinic in Cairo and operates regularly in Egypt.

Dr Hakky has a very impressive caseload of more than 3000 weight loss procedures over his last 8 years in the UK .  His main areas of interest are the sleeve gastrectomy , the gastric bypass and the gastric band surgeries. He also takes particular interest in revisional and failed weight loss procedures done in the past especially patients with failed gastric bands (ring). Dr Hakky’s centre in the UK is the first ever internationally recognized centre of excellence for bariatric surgery outside the USA.  In addition to his Bariatric cases , he dedicates a large portion of his practice to laproscopic general surgery cases including surgeries for reflux , gall stones , achalasia  , hernias of different types  and other abnormalities of the GI system . He prefers the laparoscopic approach in most of his emergency practice.

Dr Hakky proudly holds the highest clinical degree awarded for surgery in the UK, the new subspecialty Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the FRCS with a specialization in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery which is surgery of the stomach, surrounding organs and weight loss surgery.  He is also an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons.

Dr Hakky graduated with highest honours from the reputable Kasr Al Ainy where he was then appointed as a resident in the department of general surgery   . He went on to acquire both the MSC and MD (Doctorate) degree from Cairo University and was then appointed as an assistant lecturer and then a Lecturer .He developed a passion for laparoscopic and weight loss surgery during his years at Kasr Al Ainy and he decided to advance his career in London to enhance his surgical skill and increase his case volume and experience at the highest level .

Dr Hakky is an active member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and is a member of International Federation for the Study of Obesity (IFSO) and regularly presents his work at their annual  international conferences. He takes pride in winning the award for the best presentation at the ASMBS 2012 that was held in San Diego . He is also a member of the European Association Endoscopic Surgery (EAES) and the British Medical Association(BMA).
